It seems like only yesterday that a prediction was made that, with much more time available, more frequent updates would appear on this site. A year on, it can be confirmed that this has certainly not been the case and in fact, updates have been notable by their absence.
Many may think that the past 365 days have been one long round of getting up late, watching day-time TV, drinking gallons of various beverages, eating mountains of unhealthy potato-based snacks, watching late night TV and sleeping. Though some of these activities have been indulged, these have been on very rare occasions. Maybe it has simply been a case of Parkinson's Law applying to daily life!
Looking back, the list of things that have been achieved isn't full of essentials, but does contain a lot of things that are simply time consuming to complete. There is a certain amount of satisfaction and feeling of making progress in having done the following.
- All old music CDs and cassette tapes have been ripped and stored as digital copies.
- All music metadata in iTunes has been set correctly, all songs have been rated and sufficient playlists created to ensure that there is always a good tune playing when some music is wanted.
- All old hard-copy photos have been scanned and stored as digital copies.
- All old computer magazine cover CDs and floppies have been sorted, any useful items copied and the originals sent to local charity shops.
Another major benefit of completing these tasks is the amount of de-cluttering that has resulted, freeing up a reasonable amount of space in the house.
Though none of these things have changed the world or made anyone a fortune, at least they're done!
Cheers,
