The name QuartzSoft has existed since at least 1993. It was initially devised to create a unique name for an ISP user account.
It was also selected as a potential company name should the need ever arise to become a self-employed contractor. Thankfully, despite the ravages of the global recession, this need has not arisen and full-time employment has continued.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, the name is a combination of the words "quartz" and "software". The former was chosen to symbolise accuracy and precision, as exhibited by the quartz clock. The latter to represent the main preoccupation of QuartzSoft, that of software development. Overall, the aim is to reinforce the feeling that QuartzSoft is the name to trust for software development of the highest quality.
Although the vast majority of the content on the site does relate to software development, there are also areas devoted to other interests including Travel and Anurans.
