As the song says "It's Been Awhile". Though things haven't been anything like as depressing as the lyrics of the hit from Staind, the time has come to take stock of life. As the age of 50 approaches, it's not unreasonable to assume that by applying the three score years and ten rule, just under two thirds of a lifetime is in the books. It also seems like a good time to decide what to do with the years that remain.
On the plus side, the mortgage is paid, there are no outstanding debts, some provision has been made for old age and there is still some money in the bank. With no dependents, there is no reason not to ensure that by the time its all over the Revenue won't be getting a penny. What better reason could there be for leaving the rat race and going to do something more enjoyable instead.
With the extra time available it may even be possible to update this site a little more frequently!
